Matariki Day!

Maori new year - celebrating what ?

In the sky around night time there are 7 stars out on Matariki day, you can also see them clearly. The 7 stars are representing the seven sisters, Traditional Matariki was used to determine the coming seasons crop.  The 7 sisters names are Tupu a nuku, Tupu a rangi, Waiti, Waita, Wai puna rangi, and Ururangi.

Last week on friday my school celebrated Matariki. There were groups of Cooking,Sports,Arts & Crafts, and many much more, I was in the group cooking with my teacher's Mrs Tele'a and Mr Huse. My favourite highlight of Matariki was baking the cup cakes with my friend Zoe, Zoe and I got the chance to finally bake some nice cup cakes.

New Zealand should celebrate Matariki because the 7 sisters are really important. Matariki provides an ideal opportunity to explore the ways that people pass on and sustain aspect of their culture and heritage. Matariki is a time of growth and change, Matariki is the Maori name for a star constellation that rises up into the sky in mid-winter.

Story Reflection

This week I have been working on a story reflection. Writing about story's is really fun because you get to know more about the story and whats happening.

5 Awesome Things in Lockdown/Isolation - Level 4

This is how what students at Pt England School in room 3 did during the level 4 lockdown/isolation. Students liked to sleep in,Spend time with their family, clean and much more.

A game of cards

Today and Yesterday I have been working on a book called "A game of cards by Witi Ihimaera"! This book is a really good one cause its talking about Nanis Mokopunas and Nanis Kuias. There are some words that we never heard before, and we finally got the chance to get to know what it means.

The reasons I have two maps of Waituhi and Rongpai is this book takes place there.

Taha Tinana - Fitness & Hygiene!

Taha Tinana - Fitness & Hygiene:

Our physical bodies need to stay fit and clean. We need to stay clean and healthy to keep up with our physical health and we also need to keep fit. Our families and homes are where we learn the basic but important steps.

Here are 9 examples of what happens in my family.
-My mum makes sure we eat heaps of vegetables with our dinner
-My mum always makes sure we keep fit and go for runs at least twice a week
-My mum makes sure that we have a good tooth brush so we can brush our teeth twice a day
-My mum always makes sure that we have clean soap and that we have good running water
-My mum will always make sure that we have food
-My mum always makes sure that we don't eat too much meat
-My mother makes sure that we have Shampoo to wash our hair
-My mother always buys ( Healthy ) things for us to eat during the day
-And my mum always makes sure we stay healthy and we keep fit also go for runs at least twice a week

-Characters

Task Description: Today I have been working on the Characters task with my friends Hannah and Zoe. On the last page we are recording our voice reading the play for the book,this is a really fun book to read.

Grateful-Taha Hinengaro

Grateful-Taha Hinengaro:

Being someone who is grateful is important. My mum says to be to always be grateful for what you have and what you can or might receive from others. (Its a helpful way to think!)

Here are 6 things I am grateful for:

-I am grateful for having respect for those who I haven't met before

-I am grateful for having Family that takes care of me

-I am grateful for having food in the cupbards

-I am grateful for having heaps of friends at school

-I'm grateful for having clothes and shoes

-I am also grateful for having a roof over my head, and plenty of water

Thank you so much for choosing to give it to us (Pt England School) the magazines are really beautiful,also a big thanks for travelling all the way from South just to come to East and give Pt England School wonderful magazines. 

Comparing Stories

Good-Morning :)! This week I have been working on ''Comparing Stories'' using the Articles Stand up and Aotearoa Stands W/ you. This is really fun to do,Comparing Stories I really love doing this . Have a try!

What I learnt about two different articles is that one story will probably be the same as the other story. Both of these articles were very similar , because it was kind of talking about the same thing that is in the article ''Stand up'' and Stands w/ you has similar words and things that are happening.

3 special things I did in the weekend with my family:

1. family and I celebrated my sisters 19th birthday. It was my sisters birthday,she turned 19 years old yesterday but we celebrated it on Saturday.

2.I helped my mum clean the house because it was very messy from the birthday on Saturday

3.Lastly me and my cousin were mocking each other about our names and height.

Believe in your self -Joseph Parker

On Fridays Pt England usually gather together from 8 to 9.

Something was different about this Friday. Joseph Parker and his sister Elisabeth Parker  came to Pt England School, Joseph Parker and Elisabeth Parker came to Pt England to say a few words.

What I learned from this Special assembly,was belive in your self, and nothing beats hard work. Beliving in your self means you should always love yourself, you should always be confident, you should never ever let anyone take your happyness away from you. Believing in your self you should always be kind to others and help them when there feeling down or they just need some company,talk to people you love and you can also tell your family and friends about your feelings. 

If I had the chance to say something to Joseph Parker it'll be, ''Why is boxing his favourite spot and why''! The reason I would ask him that is because I really love watching him fight/box with other men with my nana and papa. I would love to meet him again during the future or year.

Thank you so much for coming Joseph Parker and Elisabeth Parker for coming along to Pt England School. It was nice to finally meet yous,we hope to see you again later in the year. Thank you very very much for coming to my school ''Pt England'' and for giving us ideas on loving ourselfs

Land Biome:

Land Biome: A land Biome is a large area of land that has the same type of climate, plants and animals. By climate, I mean the average temperature and precipitation, such as rain.

There are eight major terrstrial biomes: Tropical, Rainforest, Savannah, Subtropical, Deserts and much more! Some Land Biomes will say that there are five, some six and some more. It is common to state that there are five major Biomes.

The largest Biome is : Taiga,also known as coniferous or Boreal forest.

Tundra:

A Biome is a large region of Earth that has a certain climate and certain types of living things. Major Biome include tundra, forests, grasslands, and deserts. A Biome is a community of plants and animals that have common characteristics for the environment they exist in.

Biomes:

Marine Biome: (Largest Biome)

Covers about 70% of Salt Water of the Earths surface

Coral Reef: 

-Found in warm sunny water

Today we started looking at Biomes. Mostly a Marine Biome,Please take a look at what I have done today. 

-Narrative Writing (Ice-Cream lovers)

Once upon a time on a nice hot sunny day, Brooklyn , Angel , Phoenix , Julieana and mum decided to go and get an ice-cream. Mum told all four of the girls to get ready and hop in the car,mum told them that they were going to get happy.The girls were joyful,when they arrived at the ice-cream store mum reached in her wallet/purse to get her money out to buy all of them an ice-cream. Mum said to the girls ``Oh no , I don't have enough money” Brooklyn said “Aww mum,I thought that's why we came because you had money for all of us to get an ice-cream” mum said “Sorry”. Angel told mum if we could go home and look for money around the house,Mum said “Yes that's a good idea”. On the way home,Phoenix was a bit sad because mum didn't have enough money for ice-cream Julieana cherred Phoenix up with singing with her and also talking to Phoenix. They arrived home,mum said lets go around the house to see if there is any money in between the cupboards and draws. 

The girls hopped out of the car happily and they were skipping into the house, Brooklyn and Angel said they were gonna look around up stairs , and Phoenix and Julieana said that they were gonna go look around down stairs with mum. Brooklyn and Angel did everything together,they were just like twins,Phoenix and Julieanan had their ups and downs but they still got along with each other. Mum found 50c under the couch,Brooklyn and Angel found 2.00 up stairs and Phoenix and Julieana found 5.00 . That all equalled 7.10c , Mum yelled out to the girls “ Lets go, we are going to get some ice-cream now “Wooohooo. The girls quickly ran into the car and were very happy. Mum said “seat belts on everybody,we got to get to an ice-cream store”, on the way to the ice-cream store,mum told Phoenix to count the money. 

When they arrived the girls got out of the car and went to wait inline for ice-cream. Brooklyn and Phoenix got a blueberry flavoured ice-cream, Julieana got a Chocolate ice-cream,Angel got a normal ice-cream and mum got a Strawberry ice-cream. They all went and sat on the chair near the ice-cream store, mum took a photo of them eating their ice-cream. It was time to go home. The girls got into the car and were very happy that they got ice-cream,mum was also happy too. 

They made it home,the girls had 1 hour to play outside and then it was their shower time,Brooklyn and Angel always played together sometimes without Phoenix and Julieana. Phoenix and Julieana asked Brooklyn and Angel if they wanted to play tag with them around the house,both of the girls said sure.After about 30 minutes,mum said to the girls to go and have a shower there was always a timetable of whos going first and whos going last.It went Phoenix , Julieana , Angel then Brooklyn. Brooklyn was always last because she is the oldest out of all the girls. The girls had a shower and mum was busy cooking dinner, when the girls finished having a shower they all went down stairs and waited till dinner was ready.

Biosphere,Geosphere

Today I have been working on the Biosphere and Geosphere. This is what I have done, it is really good to learn about our Earth and whats in our Earth!

"Black lives matter"

Today I have been working on the *Black lives matter*. Learning about this is really good because people that are coloured are getting mistreated and disrespected by the Police over in America.

Enjoy being you age!

Zdravo! I am 11 years old.

There are many things I enjoy about being this age. 

*I am able to play different sports

*Im with the same students everyday

*I get to know my teahcers well

*We get to learn about our changing bodys

*We get to be the student leaders of our school

*We get to trial for rep sports teams

*We get to dream about what college we'll go to

*We love coming to school to learn

*We also love to play with friends and tell jokes

*I can get to school easily (walk)

*I have good set of mates/friends

*I enjoy spending time with my mum and my family

Going through life its really hard,but just remember that you should always enjoy being your age.  It's good to be excited about the future, work on what you need to do now to get there!  

 I also love being my age, you  should too. (There is no rush in life,just remember to love your self and never give up)!

Samoan Independence

For 2 weeks I have been working on the Samoan Independence. This is what I manged to do, I manged to get some help from my friends but not heaps of help. This task will be kind of hard and easy,I found it Hard/Easy

Graph Activity

Task Description: Today I have been working on this Graph. I worked on this task with my buddy Mele, this task was called Graph Activity. It is kind of easy and hard but you know you have to try your best at it.

Special Assembly

Today on Friday June the 12th, Pt England school had a special assembly. We had a special assembly because our principal Mr Burt,he won an Queens award. He won it from the Queen because he is doing a good job at looking after Pt England school and all around East Tamaki,Since 1993. In 2007 he co founded the Manaiakalani Education program,He has helped more than 91 schools around the world. His award from the Queen was named , Order of the Merit from the Queen. 

Towards the end of the Special assembly,Mr Burt thanked all of us for making it a wonderful assembly. Team 5 (Year 7 and 8) We sang a very nice special song for him and his wife Mrs Burt,the name of the song was “Ufiufi lou agaga” the first part is in Samoan and the second part is in English.After that,mostly all the boys from Team 5 stood up and did a very good Haka, Pt England School is really  really PROUD of you. Thank you for always providing us Chromebooks,Book,Imacs and much more, we love and appreciate you and Mrs Burt.

After this mornings Loto/Prayer,Miss Tele'a asked why we do the Karakia,Mihi and Himene.
Why we do it is because,we are trying not to be shy and we are trying to be confident speaking infront of a large audiance.
We need to Connect to our Atua,with greater power sources.
Build up our confidence to speak and represent ourselves and whanau.
Know who we are and where we come from.
Its is also very very good to pray to God,about if your having a mental break down or you've lost someone in your family or one of yous close Bestfriends or Friends.
-You should always pray to God because he can help you with your had times and good times,and he will just help and forgive you if you pray to him every morning and night.

Taha Challenge with Zoe Hannah and Me

Today my friend Zoe and Hannah,we are doing the Taha Challenge.We have to do a tree pose and put your right leg on your left knee.We all worked together,it took us more than 3 tries to get it right because our left knee was getting sore.But we manged to get it on the 5th or 4th try,we would like to say have a try at this and make a video of you doing the Taha challenge,and also tag us in it.
